AllPlants Review

We get it – cooking wholesome meals from scratch every night can be stressful and exhausting, and for some of us. It’s just not realistic. That’s why more and more people are turning to subscription meal boxes as a way to take some of the pressure off meal prep and ensure the whole family is well fed. Unfortunately, despite the major advancements that have been made recently, vegan options remain somewhat limited in the world of boxed meal subscriptions. So when we found out about AllPlants, we were excited to try it right away.

If you’re interested in hearing what we thought about AllPlants, keep reading for our full review of the service!

AllPlants: What Is It?

So, what is AllPlants, anyway? Simply put, AllPlants is a subscription meal service based in the United Kingdom.

All of the meals offered by AllPlants are 100% plant-based, as the brand name suggests, meaning that it’s the perfect option for vegans or just for those who are trying to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet.

The AllPlants menu, which we’ll cover in more depth later in this review. It has been created by professional nutritionists and all the meals are prepared by chefs.

This means you know you’ll be getting good-quality nutrition and great-tasting food – especially since the meals are flash-frozen, ensuring they stay fresh.

This all sounds very promising, so let’s take a closer look at how AllPlants works and what you can expect from the service as a whole.

How An AllPlants Subscription Works

The first thing you’ll do when setting up a subscription with AllPlants is choose a selection of 6 different meals.

Again, we’ll explore the different meal options more closely later, but for now, what you need to know is that each meal contains 2 servings, so when you choose 6 meals, you’ll be getting 12 servings in total.

At this stage, you can make your meal choices based on your dietary needs and cooking preferences.

For example, if you would rather microwave your meals for speed rather than oven-baking them, you can select this option.

You can also opt for nut-free, soy-free, or gluten-free meals if you have allergies or intolerances.

The spice level is another thing you’re able to filter, as your preferred caloric content (there’s an ‘under 450 calories’ option).

While AllPlants boxes are primarily centered around main meal options. You can also add breakfast dishes, smoothies, sides, and desserts if you like. This is totally optional, though.

AllPlants Meal Options

Curious to know what meal options AllPlants provides? There are so many different options on the menu that we don’t have time to talk about them all, but here’s a few that we personally tried and our opinions:

‘Chicken’ Katsu Curry

The ‘Chicken’ Katsu Curry was one of our absolute favorite dishes from AllPlants. It’s one that we’d happily order again and again!

In our opinion, this meal turns out best when you cook the plant-based chicken in the oven rather than microwaving it because it comes out extra crispy, but the peas and rice are the perfect texture microwaved or not.

The real star of this dish, though, is the katsu curry sauce. It is sweet and tangy, just as you’d expect.

Three Mushroom Risotto

There’s nothing more satisfying than a creamy risotto, especially on days when it’s cold and rainy outside.

Unfortunately, making a risotto from scratch is time consuming and takes some skill to get right.

That’s why we were thrilled to see this Three Mushroom Risotto on AllPlants’ menu – and we weren’t disappointed by the product!

This risotto uses both portobello and chestnut mushrooms and we especially appreciated the addition of toasted walnuts. It gives the dish a real sense of sophistication as well as added flavor.

Lentil Moussaka

If you’re in the mood for something healthy, hearty, and filling, the AllPlants Lentil Moussaka should be high on your list of meals to try.

Like the risotto, this is one of those recipes that are so creamy it’s hard to believe it’s completely vegan – but it is!

The meaty-tasting soy mince pairs perfectly with the vegan bechamel sauce. We loved how soft and juicy the eggplant turned out.

Green Goodness Bowl

The Green Goodness Bowl is our favorite light meal option from AllPlants.

You can, of course, enjoy this meal at any time of the year or the day. We think it’s the perfect choice for a summertime lunch.

AllPlants Review

One of AllPlants’ ‘under 450 calories’ options, the Green Goodness Bowl is as healthy as it is delicious.

Even if a bowl of broccoli and kale doesn’t sound like your idea of a great time. We recommend you give this dish a chance because the mint, garlic and chili seasoning takes the greens to a whole new level.

Mushroom And Chickpea Korma

We’ve already discussed one curry available through AllPlants, but if you’re like us. It can’t get enough plant-based curry dishes in your life, you should also order the Mushroom and Chickpea Korma.

Admittedly, we didn’t think this curry looked particularly appetizing. We didn’t let that stop us from tasting it, and we’re so glad because it’s one of the tastiest vegan ready meals we’ve tried.

Teriyaki Udon

If you’re trying to moderate your caloric intake, the 420-calorie Teriyaki Udon is an excellent choice.

It might be a low-calorie option made with healthy ingredients. It still tastes delicious and you’ll want to come back to it in your next order.

The stickiness of the teriyaki sauce and the crunch from the cashew nuts make for a balanced meal in terms of nutrition, taste, and texture.

Chickpea And Aubergine (Eggplant) Jalfrezi

Yet another vegan curry option we ordered from AllPlants is the Chickpea and Aubergine Jalfrezi.

This is a spicier option than either the korma or the katsu curry, but it’s not overwhelming. If you’re a fan of moderately spicy food, it will be perfect for you.

Smoky ‘Chicken And Chorizo’ Stew

This Smoky ‘Chicken and Chorizo’ Stew tastes just like the real thing, so if you’ve been looking for a good ‘meaty’ vegan meal, this is the one for you.

The Smoky ‘Chicken and Chorizo’ Stew from AllPlants was made in collaboration with Meatless Farm, so both the plant-based chicken pieces and chorizo taste authentic, even down to the texture.

Tofu Pad Thai

AllPlants’ Tofu Pad Thai uses tofu to create a very impressive ‘scrambled egg’, making this traditionally vegetarian dish vegan-friendly.

We think the sauce in this dish is on point, with the perfect flavor combination of salty and sweet.

The peanuts on top are the perfect touch and the lime flavor comes through beautifully.

Lentil And Chutney Chana Bowl

The final AllPlants meal we’re going to talk about today is the Lentil and Chutney Chana Bowl.

Made with cauliflower, sweet potatoes, mashed chickpeas (chana) and, of course, the chutney, which adds an incredible burst of sweet flavor to the dish.

AllPlants Prices

Here’s the part that we know many of you have been waiting for: the pricing.

Many subscription services, whether they sell clothes, beauty products, or ready meals, charge shockingly high prices.

Luckily, we found that AllPlants are actually quite reasonable when it comes to their prices.

Admittedly, you could definitely make vegan meals for cheaper using ingredients bought at the store.

However, you have to bear in mind that with AllPlants, you’re paying for the convenience of having the pre-prepared meals delivered to your door (more on the delivery service itself later) as well as the hard work of the nutritionists and chefs involved in creating these meals.

The 6-meal selection costs £40.50, which works out as £6.75 per meal.

On top of that, you can add sides for £3.45 each, breakfasts for £4, smoothies for £3.50 and desserts for £3.

The AllPlants Delivery Service

The delivery service offered by AllPlants is flexible and convenient, and in our opinion. That’s part of what makes the subscription worth it.

You get to choose how often you want your meals to be delivered to your home, between weekly and every 6 weeks.

There’s also the option to pause your subscription if you don’t need it/can’t afford it for a while, and you can cancel it whenever you want.

The delivery day can be selected by you, although you won’t be able to choose the specific delivery slot.

AllPlants Review

You’ll be allocated an hour-long delivery window on the day of delivery.

It’s best to choose a day where you know you’ll be home, but if that’s not possible, the delivery driver can leave your order with a neighbor or outside your home, where it will remain frozen for hours.

The Cooking Process

If you’re wondering what the process of getting your ready meals from frozen to ready to eat looks like, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s easy!

Every meal option offered by AllPlants can be cooked in the oven, which means you don’t need a microwave to heat your meal choices.

However, the majority of the meals are suitable for microwave heating, so you can use this faster option for most of the meals if time is an issue.

If you decide to oven-cook your meals, it will take about 30 minutes.

The time is reduced to about 7 minutes if you microwave the food.

Leftovers can usually be refrigerated for up to 24 hours and kept until the next day, which is ideal if you won’t be sharing each 2-serving meal with another person.

Environmental Considerations

Since veganism is closely tied to environmental issues as well as animal rights and health. We know a lot of our readers will want to know how AllPlants scores when it comes to eco-friendliness.

If lowering your carbon footprint and making sustainable choices is important to you, you’ll be glad to know that AllPlants is a sustainable company.

All the packaging used by AllPlants can either be reused or recycled. It nothing has to be wasted or go to landfill.

What’s more, because AllPlants uses DPD for their delivery service, AllPlants deliveries are carbon neutral!
